Pakse, this province, to the south, is where you’ll find the Khmer architectural wonder, Wat Phu, believed to be at least four centuries older than Angkor Wat, in Cambodia.

The charming old colonial town of Pakse, located at the confluence of the Mekong and the Xe Don Rivers, was the former French administrative center for the South.

Other attractions are Si Phan Don (the Four Thousand Island), the Li Phi Waterfalls, praised as one of the most beautiful in Asia, Khong Island, where you can see rare fresh water dolphins, and the Phabeng Waterfalls, perhaps the wolrd’s wildest.
